Dianna S. Leach is a principal and consultant in D.S. Leach Consulting, Inc. (DSLC). Having launched DSLC in November 2005 with one of her favorite editors—her husband, Gregory Bell—Dianna has more than 15 years’ experience as a writer, editor, researcher and project manager in the professional/educational/trade book publishing business. In addition, she has worked for both nonprofit and for-profit employers (Thomson West and Pennsylvania Bar Institute), in both the public and private sectors, with various types of authors and written about and/or edited manuscript on topics including accounting, business, education, entertainment, finance, public policy, real estate, tax and technology (Center for Professional Education).
Before entering the publishing field, Dianna worked as a law assistant in the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, where, on behalf of the N.J. Attorney General, she represented the N.J. Department of Corrections and the N.J. Department of Human Services in civil service appeals. Additionally, through an externship program at Temple University's School of Law, Dianna also clerked for a year for the Hon. Edwin E. Naythons, U.S. Magistrate Judge (retired), U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Dianna received her J.D. from Temple University's School of Law in 1994, where she was also named a Temple University Law Merit Scholar and served as executive editor of the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review. Although currently inactive, Dianna was admitted to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 1994. In 1990, she earned her B.A. in broadcast journalism, summa cum laude, from Temple University's School of Communications and Theater, where she was also named a Jessica Savitch Scholar and a Temple University Achievement Scholar.
Holding community involvement as an important goal, Dianna has been a member of and assistant weblog editor for the Friends of Brockport Dance (FOBD) since its inception in 2006. She also served as a member of the FOBD board of directors from 2007 to 2008. A past member of the Rochester, NY Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC-Rochester), Dianna recently served as AWC-Rochester's executive board treasurer (2008) and as executive board secretary and membership committee member (2007). Additionally, she served as a literacy tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of Rochester, NY in summer/fall 2007.
